Recognizing a caller is someone you know

Let's say you have been talking to a caller for about 6-7 minutes and then you realize that you know this person. This can be a person who you took a class with, or someone you see regularly at the gym. How you respond depends on the best interest of the caller. If it is someone you currently know, it is best to let them know that you know who the caller is and in what context. Then you can give the caller the choice to stay on the phone, or to call back and speak with another volunteer. If it is someone from the past, and they probably have forgotten you, or would not be able to place who you are, it might be best not to disrupt the flow of conversation.
